Country Dance
Country Square Dance with 2 live bands from New Orleans, the Leveetoppers and the Wasted Lives. We'll kick off the evening square dancing with the Leveetoppers -- a hard-driving old-time bluegrass band with a sound all their own, they bring the Blue Ridge Mountains to the flats of Louisiana and now, to Wallowa County. At 10 pm, we'll be Honky Tonkin' with The Wasted Lives -- a fun, entertaining and interactive Honk-a-Billy band. Their sound and much of the repertoire comes from the classic American country music period of the 1950’s. Mixing the styles of rough and ready Hillbilly bands and the urban refined Honky Tonk stars, adding a bit of the 1960’s Nashville sound here and there (not enough to smooth out the rough edges). This New Orleans based band’s members hail from many points out yonder, but discovered a common love of old time country music and quickly formed a joyous group that plays, not to get famous; but to celebrate their favorite music, have fun and encourage others to do the same. Since April 2011 they have been running a successful weekly All-Star Covered Dish Country Jamboree in New Orleans with many guest acts, authentic country auction, joke contests, covered dish suppers, and a monthly square dance Beginners welcome, no partner or special clothing needed. Admission: $5/person, $10/couple or family, children under 12 always FREE. Please bring a snack if you are able. Coffee, tea provided.
