Join students from Enterprise High School, Joseph Charter School, and Wallowa High School Friday, March 13 at 6:00pm for a special public reading from the Fishtrap College Creative Writing program. Featured readers range from high school freshmen to seniors. They will share original, newly generated work in a variety of forms including memoir, fiction, and poetry.
“Fishtrap College is a unique opportunity for Wallowa County high school kids to get a taste of the college classroom while exploring creative writing,” explains instructor Amy Zahm. “They craft their own stories, dream up new characters, and find new ways to use language. It’s always exciting and surprising to hear what they discover."
Fishtrap College Creative Writing 131 is offered in partnership with Eastern Oregon University’s Eastern Promise program. The program provides an opportunity for Wallowa County high school students to earn college credit, giving them a leg up as they prepare for their college experience. Nine students from three community high schools studied with Amy Zahm this winter and are proud to be sharing their work at the Fishtrap podium. Admission is free to this community event. Fishtrap will provide light refresshments.
