SUMMARY:Open House For Wild & Scenic Rivers At Wallowology Center
DESCRIPTION:A New Wild & Scenic Rivers Nomination Opportunity!\nOn the heels of the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers System\, come learn about a timely opportunity to protect waters in Northeast Oregon. Currently only about 1.9% of Oregon's 110\,994 miles of rivers and streams are designated Wild and Scenic. \n\n\n\nThe Blue Mountains contain the headwaters of many of our region's great streams and rivers. These cold\, clean waters support diverse fish and wildlife populations\, provide drinking water to communities\, and sustain our agricultural landscapes. We all benefit from clean water! A few weeks ago Senator Wyden called for an expansion of Oregon's network of protected rivers. He has asked members of the public to nominate rivers that matter to them and is holding large events in Portland and Bend. It's important the Blue Mountains waterways don't get overlooked! Join us at Wallowology for an open house with Rob Klavins\, Oregon Wild's Northeast Oregon Field Representative\, who will be answering questions and helping people participate in this unique opportunity. At 4 pm\, Rob will give a short and informative presentation.
