A six-plane formation flight of the West Coast Ravens will kick-off the 9th annual Wallowa County Fly-in and Pancake Breakfast (wallowacountyflyin.com) at Joseph, Oregon Airport slated for Saturday, August 12, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Breakfast will be served until 10 a.m.) Warbirds such as an F4U Corsair, an AT-6 “Texan”and a P-51 Mustang will also rip the skies with the scenic Wallowa Mountains as a backdrop.
On a first-come, first-serve basis a limited number of free rides for Vietnam, Korean and WWII veterans will be provided during the event. Paid rides will also be available.
A static display of numerous aircraft spanning decades of aviation and an interactive educational kiosk for students, including Air Force memorabilia and a simulator, will add to the excitement. Aviation merchandise will be available for purchase.
General Aviation enthusiasts, as well as the public, are invited to join in the fun day of aviation activities. Touted as “The Best Little Airshow in Oregon,”this fundraiser for the Northeast Oregon Aviation Foundation supports a county-wide high school aviation program coordinated with Treasure Valley Community College of Idaho.
