Join Fishtrap for a special screening of the Oregon Experience documentary, Oregon’s Japanese Americans, followed by a discussion. By the 1920s Oregon had well-established Japanese American communities in Portland and Hood River. Immigrant pioneers managed businesses, thriving farms and orchards with their American-born children. Pearl Harbor changed everything. With archival photos, film and first-hand accounts, “Oregon Experience” explores the region’s Japanese American history, the forced incarceration of those of Japanese ancestry during WWII and the fight for reparations decades later.
