Building off the success of 2017’s celebration – the Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center and Wallowa Resources will once again merge the Maxville Gathering and the Watershed Festival at the County Fair Grounds on June 29, 2018.
The two events are natural complements. Wallowa Resources’ Watershed Festival – has been a community celebration of our natural and cultural resources for 14 years. It’s a chance for the community to connect with local organizations and learn about their stewardship work in a fun way, and celebrate the county’s timeless treasures - our mountains, canyons, forests, rivers, lakes, animals, grasslands, and people. The Maxville Gathering – now in its 10th year! - celebrates the rich and diverse cultural history of logging in Wallowa County and similar isolated communities across the Pacific Northwest. Together they honor the connection of people to place and each other – and the skill, passion, and sweat required to make a living from the land.
This celebration is family-friendly and fun for all ages – with scavenger hunts, fishing, stories, lumberjack games, and award winning music by Darrel Brann and special guest musicians including two time Grammy winner Dom Flemons. Special guest speaker, local foods and BBQ, and free hot dogs for kids under 15…silent auctions, raffle, etc.
