“Women on the Edge,” the art exhibit featuring regional women artists, runs until April 18, and on that night, wrapping up six weeks of activities recognizing women’s contributions in art, culture, and politics, Bonnie Laing-Malcolmson will give a talk about Northwest women artists. Laing-Malcolmson is the recently retired Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Northwest Art at the Portland Art Museum, where she was responsible for the Museum’s collection of Northwest art from the late 19th century through the present. Prior to her stint at the Museum, she was president of Oregon College of Art & Craft from 2000 to 2010, and served from 1994-2000 as the executive director of Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, Montana. This event will be a kind of homecoming, as early in her career, in the 1970’s, Laing-Malcolmson was an artist in the schools in Wallowa County!
