Fishtrap Presents: Free Public Reading
Join students from Enterprise High School, Joseph Charter School, and the Alternative Ed School Friday, March 15 at 6:00pm for a special public reading from the newly revived Fishtrap College Creative Writing program. Featured readers include Natalie Gorham, Foster Hobbs, Jed Lamb, Aubrina Melville, Anna Moholt, Kana Oliver, Christina Russell, Renee Seal, and Tori Suto. They will share original, newly generated work in a variety of forms including memoir, fiction, and poetry.
“It’s amazing to see the maturity, skill, and insight in these students’ writing” says instructor Amy Zahm. “With unique voice and perspective, they have been able to craft stories in a variety of genres and with a power and authenticity that is truly exciting.”
Fishtrap College Creative Writing 131 is offered in partnership with Eastern Oregon University’s Eastern Promise program. It provides an opportunity for Wallowa County high school students to earn college credit by attending classes at Fishtrap and give them a leg up as they prepare for their college experience. Nine students from three community high schools studied with Amy Zahm this winter and are proud to be sharing their work at the Fishtrap podium.
